Asset CleanUp Pro: Test Page-Specific WordPress Asset Rules

WordPress themes and add-ons may load CSS and JavaScript where a page does not use them, such as contact form files on a page without a form. Asset CleanUp Pro lets you inspect page resources and create rules to unload selected files. This can reduce HTTP requests, page weight, and browser work, depending on what the page loads.

Review the resources on each page

WordPress themes and add-ons may load CSS and JavaScript where a page does not use them, such as contact form files on a page without a form. Asset CleanUp Pro lets you inspect page resources and create rules to unload selected files. This can reduce HTTP requests, page weight, and browser work, depending on what the page loads.

Use Test Mode to check rules as a logged-in administrator before they affect users. The Dashboard Overview gathers unload rules, exceptions, asset attributes, page settings, and leftover entries. Manage assets from the Dashboard, a post or page edit screen, or the front-end view.

Set rules for assets and plugins

Unload CSS and JavaScript on the homepage, individual posts and pages, and custom post types. Pro's Plugins Manager can also prevent entire plugins from running on selected frontend or Dashboard pages. When a add-on is not needed in a context, this can reduce PHP work and database queries before the page is generated. Pro also includes broader conditional rules, hardcoded asset management, device-specific rules, and advanced controls for JavaScript attributes and placement.

Manage styles, scripts, and fonts

  • Minify and combine supported CSS and JavaScript, including supported inline code.
  • Preload selected CSS and JavaScript files when earlier discovery is useful.
  • Add, edit, and remove manually prepared Critical CSS by supported page context. Asset CleanUp Pro organizes this CSS; it does not generate it automatically.
  • Combine, preload, asynchronously load, or remove Google Fonts requests. Set font-show and preconnect options, and preload local fonts.

Control image loading and WordPress output

Apply fetchpriority, loading, and decoding attributes to pictures using simple matching or regular expressions, and lazy-load images where appropriate. Cleanup options can remove Emojis, Dashicons for guests, Comment Reply, selected discovery links, metadata, and oEmbed resources from the document head. You can also disable RSS feed links or feeds, restrict or disable XML-RPC when it is not needed, and strip supported HTML comments with exceptions where required.

Test changes before visitors see them

Enable Test Mode in the options, choose a page in CSS & JS Manager, then save a rule for an asset that is clearly unnecessary there. Test the page on desktop and mobile, including menus, forms, popups, sliders, and other interactive elements. Clear every active page, server, browser, and CDN cache. Once the page works as expected, disable Test Mode and check again as a logged-out user. Asset CleanUp Pro complements page caching and CDN delivery; it does not replace them. Avoid enabling the same minification or combination feature in multiple optimization plugins.
