WordPress to Buffer Pro: Social Publishing from WordPress

WordPress to Buffer Pro sends configured WordPress posts, pages, and custom post types to Buffer when they are published or updated. WordPress options determine which content qualifies and how each message is built. Buffer manages connected social profiles and sends queued posts according to its schedule. A Buffer account is required.

Choose social destinations and content

Buffer connections include Facebook Pages, X/Twitter, LinkedIn Pages and profiles, Threads, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, Bluesky, and TikTok. Pro adds direct posting to Instagram Business Profiles, including Feed and Stories, and Pinterest Boards. One WordPress website can connect multiple Buffer accounts for separate brands, teams, or processes.

Select the post types to share. Pro conditions can limit publishing by author, category, tags, or custom field values. Duplicate prevention helps avoid sending the same content twice.

Build messages and set their timing

Message templates can use the post title, excerpt, content, permalink, publication date, tags, and categories. Set character or word limits for excerpts and content, or use tags and categories as hashtags. Pro works with different templates for each social network and post type.

Choose to publish immediately, add an entry to the start or end of the Buffer queue, or schedule it for a specific time. Buffer spaces queued posts according to its schedule. Pro can also reshare evergreen content at scheduled intervals or manually bulk publish selected posts.

Use event, store, and SEO data

• Event calendars: Use event dates from The Events Calendar, Event Manager, or Modern Events Calendar to schedule social posts.
• WooCommerce: Add product prices, SKUs, and other product data to messages.
• SEO add-ons: Use SEO titles, descriptions, and metadata from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All-In-One SEO Pack, or SEOPress.
• Custom fields and pictures: Include custom field data and use multiple images from a featured picture, media gallery, post content, or Advanced Custom Fields image fields.
• WP-Cron: Queue posts to send in the background, which can help on high-traffic sites.

Set up the publishing flow

1. Install and activate the Pro add-on in WordPress.
2. Authorize a Buffer account, then link the social profiles managed by Buffer.
3. Choose the post types to share and configure templates, conditions, and scheduling behavior.
4. Publish or update WordPress content. Eligible content is sent to Buffer according to the settings you chose.
