WordPress plugin
Link Checker Pro for WordPress
Link Checker Pro uses an external service to crawl a WordPress website and report broken internal and external links, along with redirects. The crawler visits pages like a regular visitor and handles the crawl work, keeping computation on the website low. It works with WordPress plugins out of the box. Polylang websites are supported; WPML may also work.
Links and media in one crawl
Link Checker Pro uses an external service to crawl a WordPress website and report broken internal and external links, along with redirects. The crawler visits pages like a regular visitor and handles the crawl work, keeping computation on the website low. It works with WordPress plugins out of the box. Polylang websites are supported; WPML may also work.
Pro includes checks for embedded internal and external images and whether embedded YouTube videos are available. These checks extend the results beyond ordinary links while using the same website crawl.
Recurring checks and reusable results
You can schedule a website check once a day and receive a summary by email. Export results as a CSV file for review, filtering, or sharing. Results are saved on the Link Checker server and can be fetched again by different visitors or browsers without running another check.
Protected pages and crawler access
Form login support lets the crawler check protected pages, such as membership areas. It respects the site's robots.txt rules, including the crawl-delay directive. The custom MB-SiteCrawler visitor-agent group can be used to control which pages are checked.
A hosting provider may block the crawler, preventing it from accessing the site. The service also cannot reach a local development site on a private network.
External service and setup
The developer-operated external server receives the website URL and the fact that the site uses WordPress. It crawls the site and returns a list of broken links. To start, install and activate the extension, open Link Checker from the WordPress sidebar, and choose “Check your website.” Configure form login support when you need to include protected pages.
The stated requirements are WordPress 4.7 or newer and PHP 5.6 or newer. Check that your hosting provider enables the crawler to access the site and that your robots.txt rules permit the pages you want checked.
