Export Media as ZIP Premium for Admin-Only Archives

Export Media as ZIP Premium lets administrators create ZIP archives from selected WordPress media. Choose upload years and image sizes, review the live count of matching images, then execute an immediate, background, or recurring export.

Choose images and files

The Year filter lists years with image uploads and shows a count for each. Select one or more years to narrow the image selection. Supported image formats are JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WEBP.

Choose Full Size for the original upload or choose intermediate sizes registered by WordPress core, the active theme, or add-ons. Options may include Thumbnail, Medium, Large, and custom sizes. Only selected sizes are included. If an intermediate file was not generated for an image, it is skipped.

Premium can add PDF, Word (.doc and .docx), Excel (.xls and .xlsx), and PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx) documents. Documents are included at their original file size, and the Image Size filter applies only to images.

Choose how the export runs

A standard export displays a real-time progress bar. Its ZIP is stored in a protected export directory and retrieved through an authenticated download handler. Standard ZIPs expire after five minutes.

For a large collection, enable Run in background. The job is queued and processed in chunks through WP-Cron, so the browser tab does not need to stay open. When it is ready, an email includes a download link valid for 24 hours.

For repeated exports, choose a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule, set the Year, Image Size, and Document Type filters, and enter a recipient email address. Each run is processed in the background and sends a fresh download link.

Start an export

1. Install and activate Export Media as ZIP Premium.
2. Open the export page as a visitor with the manage_options capability, normally an administrator.
3. Select upload years, image sizes, and any document types to include.
4. Review the matching image count, then start the export or enable background processing.
5. For a recurring export, choose its schedule and recipient email before saving.

The plugin has no external dependencies.
