Configure hreflang relationships in WordPress
Hreflang Manager Pro describes relationships between pages with alternate versions in various languages, scripts, or countries. Configure data across separate websites and sites in a WordPress network, using either the post editor or a centralized menu.
Language values follow ISO 639-1, script values follow ISO 15924, and country values follow ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. You can choose default languages, scripts, and countries. Pro works with up to 100 alternate versions per connection.
Set up and review the implementation
- Install and activate the plugin in WordPress.
- Choose whether to manage hreflang data in the post editor or from the centralized menu.
- Set the relevant language, script, and country values, then connect the alternate pages.
- When the same relationships apply across a network, synchronize the hreflang data across its sites.
- Inspect the front-end tags and use the Hreflang Checker to detect implementation issues.
- Where appropriate, add hreflang information to XML sitemaps or import prepared spreadsheet data.
The Locale Selector can show available alternate versions to visitors. The add-on also deletes hreflang data associated with deleted posts. Its documentation includes guidance for manually adding and verifying hreflang data.
