Set rules for new uploads
The base plugin can remove accents and special characters from filenames, convert names to lowercase, and use the website URL, post title, or current date in a filename structure. It can update a file's permalink when its name changes. Filtering settings can skip files without extensions, selected extensions, or specified text in filenames.
Pro adds datetime, upload date, a custom string, post slug, visitor ID, user role, username, product SKU, and post ID as values for naming rules. Combine available values to fit a site's content or shop structure. For example, a post slug can identify editorial media, while a product SKU can label product files.
Update and control existing media
- Edit individual media filenames and permalinks manually, or apply new filenames and permalinks to previously uploaded files.
- When a file is renamed, update references to it in post content to help avoid broken links or missing media.
- Convert picture extensions from JPEG to JPG.
- Automatically synchronize a media filename with its post when the post is updated.
- Restrict renaming options by user role or custom post type.
Fill image text fields
Pro can automatically fill image alt text and media titles using predefined options or the original filename. This gives images descriptive text fields alongside the filename and permalink tools.
Configure the workflow
In the add-on settings, pick the enabled rules and arrange the values in the filename structure for new uploads. With Pro active, you can add its additional values, review changes to existing media, and use manual editing or library updates as needed. Enable reference updates when renamed files are already used in post content.
