Custom Shipping Methods for WooCommerce Pro: Cart Rules

Custom Shipping Methods for WooCommerce Pro lets you make multiple shipping methods for a WooCommerce store. Each method has a cost formula that calculates the charge and availability rules that determine whether it appears for a cart. Shipping-class settings can further group costs per class or per order.

Calculate rates from cart quantity, value, weight, and volume

Use these shortcodes in a method's cost calculation formula:

  • [qty] for the number of entries in the cart
  • [cost] for the total cost of cart items
  • [weight] for total cart weight
  • [volume] for total cart volume
  • [fee] for percentage-based fees
  • [round] for rounding

Combine these inputs to calculate a charge that changes with the order.

Set cart and product availability rules

Set minimum and maximum cart cost, weight, volume, or quantity for each method. You can also require or exclude specific products, product categories, and product tags. These rules decide whether a method is available; the cost formula separately determines its charge.

Apply costs by shipping class

Assign costs to product shipping classes, including products without a shipping class. Choose to charge per class or per order, then set whether limits are checked per class, per order, or across all items.

Calculate distance and table rates

Pro includes the [distance] shortcode for distance-based cost calculations and minimum or maximum distance availability rules. The [costs_table] shortcode works with table rate shipping, with costs calculated using the Google Distance Matrix API. Pro also offers minimum and maximum cost limits.

Set free-shipping conditions and checkout details

Set a minimum order amount for free shipping or specify products that qualify. Add custom frontend icons and descriptions to shipping methods. Customized icon templates can appear beside a method title, and custom HTML text can display when the shipping cost is zero. A custom return URL can replace the standard Order received page.

Set up a shipping method

Install and activate the plugin alongside WooCommerce, then open its settings in the WordPress dashboard and create a method. Add its formula, availability rules, shipping-class costs, distance settings, free-shipping conditions, and checkout details. Test carts that meet and do not meet the rules before making the method available to customers.
