UpdraftPlus Premium: WordPress Backups, Restoration and Migration

UpdraftPlus Premium is the paid edition of the UpdraftPlus backup and migration add-on for WordPress. It adds options for backup timing, storage, recovery, migration, and managing multiple websites.

Set backup timing and content

Run backups manually or schedule them every 2, 4, 8, or 12 hours, daily, weekly, monthly, or fortnightly. Choose a set execute time, such as a low-traffic period, and send backups to more than one location.

Premium can make a backup before WordPress or add-on updates, giving you a copy to restore if an update causes a problem. Incremental backups add changes to the master backup instead of repeatedly creating a full backup, which can help save server resources.

• Control how many backups are kept within a specified interval.
• Review detailed reports with cryptographic checksums to verify backup file integrity.
• Include non-WordPress documents and databases, such as e-commerce tables or custom WordPress core modifications.
• Apply encryption to database backups.

Choose storage and restore components

UpdraftPlus supports Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3 or compatible services, Rackspace Cloud, FTP, DreamObjects, OpenStack Swift, and email. Premium adds Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Backblaze B2, SFTP, SCP, pCloud, WebDAV, and UpdraftVault. UpdraftVault includes 1GB of integrated storage.

During restoration, choose components such as plugins, themes, or the database. Premium can also restore backups made with other backup extensions, including BackWPup, BackupWordPress, Simple Backups, and more.

Move a site to its new location

In the standard migration process, download the database, plugins, themes, and other backup files from the source site, then upload them to the destination. Both the free and Premium plugins include a search-and-replace engine that updates old strings to reflect the new location. Premium also supports a more direct migration to the destination site from the source site.

Manage Multisite and multiple websites

Premium supports WordPress Multisite and multi-network installations. You can manage backups and migrations through WP-CLI. For multiple websites, UpdraftCentral can provide a central dashboard for managing backups. UpdraftClone can create a temporary site clone for testing changes.

Configure the plugin and get support

Install and activate the UpdraftPlus backup and migration plugin in WordPress, then configure its options and storage destinations. Choose a manual or scheduled backup, select the content and destinations you need, and review the restoration and migration options.
