Open User Map PRO is a WordPress mapping add-on for community maps, directories, store locators, travel guides, event maps, and other location projects. Based on Leaflet Map JS, it supports OpenStreetMap, OpenFreeMap vector, MapBox, and other map styles. A Google Maps API key is not required.
Add markers yourself or let users submit locations through a frontend form. Submissions can wait for approval before appearing on the map. Settings can restrict submissions to registered visitors or allow configured users to publish without approval. Add maps with Gutenberg blocks, Elementor widgets, or the [open-visitor-map] shortcode. Use [open-user-map-form] to display the submission form without a map.
Filter locations and customize map displays
- Group locations into filterable marker categories, with an individual icon for each category.
- Let visitors filter markers as they type, or add a sidebar that filters by configured custom fields. Custom HTML sections can provide additional information or branding.
- Allow visitors to draw lines and areas, such as routes, paths, zones, or boundaries.
- Use a custom picture layer, such as a floor plan, event map, seating plan, or fantasy map. Interactions, clustering, and popups remain available with the image layer.
- Limit visible locations by category or post ID, including a single location, through block options or shortcode attributes. PRO shortcode attributes can also filter locations by current user, user ID, or role in maps, lists, and galleries.
Present location details in pages, lists, and galleries
When single location pages are enabled, entries can use a post thumbnail, excerpt, and default content template. Query loop blocks can make custom lists or grids. The [open-user-map-location] shortcode displays a selected location value, while [open-user-map-gallery] shows location images linked to their corresponding map markers. Use [open-user-map-list] for a location list, or create a custom list or grid with native query loop blocks.
Location content can include descriptions, images, audio, video, and other media. Open User Map PRO supports videos from YouTube and Vimeo.
Manage contributions and extend the map
With the relevant capabilities assigned, registered users can read, edit, and delete their own locations from within the map. WordPress hooks can extend functionality, including a hook to modify location data before rendering. Custom JavaScript and CSS inputs are also available, and a PHP function can retrieve a specific location value. A URL parameter can highlight a marker after a submission or redirect.
Set up and publish
Create a map, pick its style and marker presentation, configure fields and submission settings, then add your markers or enable frontend submissions. Place the map with a Gutenberg block, Elementor widget, or shortcode, and configure categories, filters, lists, galleries, or location pages for your project. A 7-day trial of PRO capabilities is available without a credit card.
