Manage documents in WordPress
Shared Files PRO is a file manager and download manager for organizing files in WordPress. Use the admin area to manage a collection without publishing it on the front end, or add downloadable file lists to pages and posts with shortcodes.
Organize files and select a display
Add file names, descriptions, dates, expiration dates, categories, tags, and custom field data. Shared Files keeps its files separate from the WordPress Media Library, while allowing Media Library files to be activated for use in Shared Files. You can upload multiple files, group them, upload files via FTP and activate them with one click, or use an external file URL and track its loads.
Choose simple or two-column lists, category lists, accordion shows, single-file pages, search-focused lists, or upload forms. The default file list uses [shared_files]; use [shared_files_simple] for a simple list.
Search, preview, and control file access
Visitors can search files on the front end and filter results by category, tag, or custom field data. Set file-opening permissions for visitors and roles. Front-end upload forms can accept files from logged-in users or, when enabled, users without logging in. Uploaders can add files to new categories, and you can allow any user role to edit files from the front end.
- Upload audio, video, pictures, PDFs, Word documents, folders, and other file types.
- Use SVG icons for 25 file types or assign individual custom icons.
- Preview supported files in a browser. Open images and videos in a lightbox, including YouTube, MP4, WebM, OGG, and MOV content.
- Set expiration dates and download limits for individual files, and display files in website search results.
- Save favorite files for logged-in and non-logged-in users.
A wait-countdown page can display a counter before a download starts automatically. Download pages can also be isolated from the rest of a file list.
Review activity and notifications
Track downloads with counters and a download log, and review front-end searches in the search log. See popular files, including the top 50, and log the downloader's city and country. City and country information is also available in the search log. Email notifications can be sent when a file is uploaded or downloaded.
