How content and fields work together
Custom fields attach metadata to posts, pages, media, and other WordPress content. Depending on how you configure the fields, that metadata can add details to frontend content, help organize dashboard editing, or filter database queries. Fields can be assigned to post types, taxonomies, settings or admin pages, visitors, media, comments, and menu entries.
Field settings include text, number, textarea, WYSIWYG editor, checkbox, radio, dropdown, telephone, email, date picker, time picker, color picker, file upload, post relationship, taxonomy relationship, HTML, and repeater fields. PRO includes more than eight additional field types, including range, ON/OFF switch, password, link, embed, map, visitor relationship, and separator fields.
Templates and administration
Create custom templates for content managed with the add-on. PRO also lets you add dedicated pages and notices to the WordPress administration area. These tools sit alongside the content structures and fields, so a project can define its data and add related presentation or dashboard controls in one process.
Settings and setup
Install and activate the add-on in WordPress, then use its dashboard tools to make the post types, taxonomies, fields, templates, admin pages, or notices your project needs. Configure the field settings and save the setup before using those structures while editing content. PRO settings can be exported and imported to help reuse or move a configuration.
The plugin uses functions and resources available in WordPress core.
