Squeeze Premium for WordPress Image Workflows
Squeeze Premium is an image optimization and compression tool for WordPress. It compresses images locally in the browser and converts supported files to WebP without sending images to third-party optimization servers. The plugin can be used from the Media Library, during supported upload processes, in bulk utilities, and with selected site directories.
Browser-based picture optimization
Squeeze Premium is an image optimization and compression tool for WordPress. It compresses images locally in the browser and converts supported files to WebP without sending images to third-party optimization servers. The plugin can be used from the Media Library, during supported upload processes, in bulk utilities, and with selected site directories.
Premium includes controls for comparing image results, resizing originals, optimizing images while working in Elementor, and mapping CDN image URLs to local files for WebP delivery. The broader add-on works with JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF processing, with format-specific quality options.
Premium capabilities
- Compare before-and-after image sizes in the Media Library.
- Resize originals to a maximum width or height before squeezing.
- Bulk squeeze images used on one post or page.
- Compress images on upload while editing in Elementor.
- Map CDN image URLs to local files for all WebP delivery modes.
- Use the listed priority support and updates associated with Premium.
These tools are useful for websites with image-heavy posts, landing pages, galleries, and media libraries. Resizing can reduce oversized source files before compression, while image comparison helps review the size difference between the original and processed file.
WebP delivery and storage options
Squeeze offers three WebP delivery modes. Direct WebP converts the file on disk to a WebP file and is described as the recommended option. Rewrite src keeps the original files and serves WebP URLs in HTML output. Server delivery keeps the existing URLs while .htaccess serves WebP bytes to supporting browsers.
Premium CDN URL mapping helps connect CDN image paths with local files for these delivery modes. The plugin also supports WP Offload Media workflows, including compression of CDN-hosted images when local files have been removed. Direct WebP files can be uploaded to supported storage destinations such as S3, Google Cloud Storage, and DigitalOcean Spaces through that integration.
Compression workflow
Open the Media Library to execute bulk compression, use the bulk squeeze tool for images associated with a post or page, or process files during upload in supported editors. Squeeze uses browser-based Web Workers and codecs including MozJPEG, Browser Image Compression, and WebP and AVIF encoders. Compression takes place in the browser rather than through an off-site upload queue.
For larger libraries, the plugin can compress hundreds of Media Library images in one run, with pause and resume support. It can also process images in a selected folder under the site root, while exclusions allow images to be skipped by URL or filename pattern. A backup option can keep a .bak copy for restoring the original after squeezing.
Installation and setup
Install Squeeze Premium in WordPress, open its image optimization settings, and choose the desired quality and WebP delivery options. Select whether to keep backups, configure any exclusions, and set maximum dimensions if resizing is needed. Use the Media Library or a supported editor to process images, then review the before-and-after results where available.
