Custom Permalink Editor Pro for Individual WordPress URLs

How individual permalinks affect your WordPress URLs

Custom Permalink Editor Pro assigns a custom path to selected WordPress content while leaving the website's overall permalink structure unchanged. Use it for posts, pages, categories, tags, landing pages, portfolio items, products, and content moved from another platform.

In the WordPress administration area, open a post or page and find the Custom Permalink Editor box. Enter the preferred path, then save or publish the item. Category and tag permalinks can also be edited from the administration panel.

  • Choose readable paths for blog posts.
  • Set marketing-friendly paths for landing pages.
  • Use branded paths for portfolio items and product pages.
  • Keep a familiar URL structure when moving content from another platform.

Custom post types in Pro

Existing custom permalinks for custom post types continue to work. Pro also lets you make custom permalinks for those types and edit their existing custom URLs. This works with specialized content such as portfolio items, product pages, listings, and other content types registered in WordPress.

Path handling and developer filters

The plugin sanitises permalinks for URL use and handles special characters and accents. Developers can use filters to adjust accent handling, enable PATH_INFO support in the $_SERVER variable, exclude selected permalinks from processing (such as a sitemap URL), or remove the editor form for a specific post type. These settings can accommodate system URLs and content types that should keep their usual editing process.

What changes when the add-on is deactivated

While the plugin is active, selected items use their custom permalinks. When it is deactivated, custom permalinks are disabled and posts and pages return to their default WordPress URLs; the content remains in place. If you change an existing URL, consider setting up a 301 redirect to help maintain its SEO value.

Install and set a custom path

  1. Install Custom Permalink Editor Pro in WordPress.
  2. Activate it from the add-ons area.
  3. Open a post, page, category, tag, or supported custom post type.
  4. Enter the preferred custom URL in the editor box.
  5. Save or publish the item, then test the resulting permalink.

The plugin works with multilingual plugins such as WPML and Polylang. For technical support or custom modifications, contact Kings Crest Global through its contact form.
