Tooltips for WordPress Pro

Tooltips for WordPress Pro and Tooltips for WordPress Pro Plus are paid editions for adding responsive pop-up details to a WordPress website. Visitors can hover over a configured word, image, button, menu item, form field, or another supported element to see more information while staying on the page.

Create tooltip content

Manage tooltip terms and content in the administration area. Use the standard WordPress editor to add text, pictures, audio, video, buttons, social icons, PDFs, or other HTML. Supported media settings also include maps, QR codes, GIFs, YouTube and SoundCloud content, and Wikipedia previews.

Match terms or choose a placement

Automatic detection can find configured terms in posts, pages, tags, menus, products, comments, WooCommerce descriptions, ACF fields, and other supported areas. Settings let you show a tooltip at the first matching term on a page or at every match.

Shortcodes give you more control over placement. Use a keyword and its tooltip content, wrap the text that should trigger a tooltip, or show a saved tooltip by ID in a page-builder layout:

• [tooltips keyword="term" content="tooltip text"] links a keyword to tooltip content.
• [tooltips content="tooltip text"]selected text[/tooltips] applies the tooltip to selected text.
• [tooltip_by_id tooltip_id="222"] displays a saved tooltip by ID.

Media, integrations, and options

The capability list describes more than 20 advanced add-ons for areas such as ACF, Elementor, Gutenberg, Brizy, WooCommerce, Polylang, video and audio services, PDFs, forms, tables, BuddyPress, bbPress, and Wikipedia. The editions also list more than 400 configuration options for tooltip appearance and behavior.

Tooltips can work with Elementor, WPForms, TablePress, Contact Form 7, WooCommerce, ACF, pricing tables, and other listed integrations. With supported gallery extensions such as NextGEN, tooltips can appear for gallery image descriptions.

Glossaries and directories

The built-in glossary and directory system can create a dictionary-style list of tooltip terms with optional images, alphabetical navigation, SEO-friendly index pages, and multilingual support. Add the [glossary] shortcode to a page to display the glossary. Other shortcodes can list WooCommerce products with [productdirectory], jobs with [joblistingtable], members with [member_directory], or posts with [postdirectory].

Set up and test

Install and activate the paid edition through the WordPress administration area. Add tooltip terms and content in the add-on’s administration panel, then adjust the presentation and matching settings. Test tooltips on the posts, products, menus, forms, or other supported areas you selected before publishing.
