CleanTalk Cloud Anti-Spam for WordPress Forms and Comments

CleanTalk Cloud Anti-Spam connects a WordPress add-on to a premium cloud service that checks supported submissions against a global spam detection network. The checks run in the background, so visitors do not have to solve CAPTCHA puzzles or complete extra verification steps.

SpamFireWall can block known active spam bots before they load website pages. It runs on your server with your existing hosting and DNS options. The cloud service checks other supported requests, including comments, form submissions, registrations and orders.

Review what the checks reported

The Anti-Spam Log entries checked requests as accepted or blocked, and the service dashboard shows spam and legitimate request statistics for each site. If a comment, registration or contact message seems to have been blocked by mistake, its request entry and rejection explanation give you information to inspect.

You can also check existing comments and users for spam, then find flagged comments or accounts for review and cleanup. Spam comments can be moved to the Spam or Trash folder, deleted silently, or removed from the Spam folder automatically.

Cover comments, forms and store activity

Comment protection works with native WordPress comments, Jetpack comments and other comment plugins. The Real Person Badge can identify legitimate commenters and automatically approve legitimate, non-spam comments.

Form integrations include Contact Form 7, WPForms, Elementor Forms, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Forminator and Ninja Forms. Protection also covers supported registrations, logins, contact messages, subscriptions, bookings, polls, surveys and search forms. To include forms that send data to third-party services such as MailChimp, enable the Protect external forms option.

For WooCommerce, the service filters spam registrations, spam reviews and fake orders. The supplied compatibility information identifies WooCommerce 2.1 and later. Other listed integrations include bbPress, Asgaros Forum, Easy Digital Downloads, Events Manager and additional form, booking and commerce utilities.

Choose how unwanted activity is filtered

Real-time email validation checks whether an address is real. CleanTalk can also block disposable and temporary email addresses. Detection can combine JavaScript tests, submission behavior and shared spam data. A hidden honeypot field is another available check.

Filtering controls can block submissions by language, country, network or stop words, and private lists can block specified IP addresses or email addresses. Anti-Flood and Anti-Crawler settings can block unwanted bots, content or price parsers, and aggressive site scanners. Well-known good bots, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and Copilot, are allowed by default; individual bots can be blocked in private lists.

The Contact Data Protection option encodes published email addresses and phone numbers to deter bot harvesting. CleanTalk also works with WordPress cache plugins and content delivery networks, including Cloudflare. Cloudflare network traffic is not checked against the blacklist database; other anti-spam tests handle those requests.

Connect the add-on to the cloud service

Install and activate the CleanTalk anti-spam plugin, get an access key, enter it in the plugin settings, then configure the available protection options. Administrator actions are not checked, so test protection as a logged-out site user.

The plugin works with a premium cloud service. The supplied listing describes a free trial followed by a service price of $12 per year per site.
