WPConsent Pro: Cookie Consent Controls for WordPress

Manage cookie consent in WordPress

WPConsent Pro is a WordPress cookie consent management add-on for websites that need a customizable notice, visitor preference controls, and consent entries. It works with privacy requirements associated with GDPR, CCPA and CPRA, ePrivacy, DSGVO, TTDSG, LGPD, POPIA, APA, RGPD, PIPEDA, and other global regulations.

WPConsent is self-hosted. Consent records are stored in your own WordPress database rather than on the servers of a separate SaaS cookie consent platform. The source describes this approach as having no monthly cookie consent platform fees and no pageview caps.

Customize the cookie banner

Create a cookie banner, popup, or modal that fits the styling of your website. You can choose from multiple layouts and positions, adjust colors and text, add your logo, and select button styles that fit your theme.

The preferences panel lets users accept or reject cookies by category, including essential, statistics, and marketing cookies. Per-service consent toggles provide more granular control for individual tracking services. WPConsent also supports customizable placeholders for blocked embedded content, including placeholder pictures loaded from your own website.

Block scripts until consent

WPConsent Pro automatically blocks common third-party cookies and tracking scripts until the visitor grants the required consent. This is intended to prevent tracking cookies from being set before a visitor makes a choice. The source identifies integrations and supported services including Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity.

The plugin includes Google Consent Mode v2 and Microsoft Clarity Consent Mode support. WPConsent Pro also includes the IAB TCF v2.3 Transparency and Consent Framework for programmatic advertising compliance. Global Privacy Control support allows preferences sent through a GPC signal to be respected automatically, with a clear message displayed for updated CCPA requirements. Integration with the WordPress Consent API allows other privacy-aware add-ons to read the consent state.

Show regional consent notices

Smart geolocation functions let you show various cookie notices according to a visitor’s region. You can serve a strict GDPR-style opt-in banner to EU and UK traffic, a CCPA-style “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” notice to California residents, and a lighter cookie notice elsewhere.

Scan and document consent

WPConsent Pro includes automatic cookie scanning to help identify cookies used by your website. It also delivers consent logs and records. The source describes these records as searchable and exportable, giving you a way to review and document visitor choices from your WordPress installation.

For eCommerce websites, the plugin includes eCommerce auto-configuration. The Pro edition also includes automatic translations and a “Do Not Sell” CCPA addon.

Installation and setup

Install WPConsent Pro in WordPress, then configure the banner layout, wording, colors, logo, categories, and service preferences from the plugin settings. Run the cookie scan, review the detected services, configure regional notices and integrations, and enable the consent controls required for your website.
