What Does PrintFriendly Pro Add to WordPress?
PrintFriendly Pro Subscription is the paid option for Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly. For a subscribed domain, it removes the advertisements shown in the print, PDF, and email confirmation window. The add-on detects page content automatically, so publishers do not need a separate print.css file.

PrintFriendly describes Pro as GDPR compliant and recommends it for EU publishers. It says the free version is not currently compliant because of cookie consent requirements.
Visitor previews and document output
Visitors can print page content, create a PDF, or share it by email. Before printing or creating a PDF, they can edit a preview by changing text and image sizes or deleting content they do not need. PDFs can include clickable links and use A4 or Letter paper sizes. The plugin works on HTTP and HTTPS websites, including password-protected websites.
Publisher settings and languages
- Enable or disable print, PDF, and email settings.
- Add custom headers and footers to print and PDF output, and include a copyright notice.
- Choose a button style or use custom text with an image or button.
- Apply your own CSS to control the print or PDF page.
- Choose the JavaScript or non-JavaScript option.
The interface detects the visitor’s browser language and can show in 30 languages. Supported examples include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The plugin is also compatible with Social Snap, Social Pug, NovaShare, and Shareaholic.
Content handling
PDFs are generated on PrintFriendly’s server. Page content is sent or stored there for PDF generation, and the resulting PDF is temporarily stored so the visitor can download it before it is permanently deleted. With the non-JavaScript option, the server generates the preview and caches it for a few minutes before deleting it.
Email sharing is sent by the server. The email address and message are stored to send the email, then permanently deleted after it has been sent and determined not to be spam. PrintFriendly says it does not sell data or share it unless required by law. It also makes and deletes server logs, and may use non-personally identifying details such as browser type, language, referrer, and date and time to analyze service use; aggregate data may be published.
