Banner Only mode runs on WordPress without an account and includes the banner and its options. Connected mode requires signing in from WordPress and is available on free or paid plans. It includes automatic blocking for non-essential scripts and iframes, purpose categories, consent records, multilingual banners, and multi-domain management.

Visitor choices and consent controls
Intentional Consent presents three equal choices through packaged Data Access Levels, allowing visitors to accept none, some, or all cookies. Purpose categories let them make choices by category, and a duration selector lets them select how long consent lasts. The expanded banner can display a user’s consent record and a list of blocked or allowed third parties. Consent records are available through the Cookie Compliance platform and can be exported as CSV.
Automatic script blocking holds non-essential scripts and iframes until a visitor makes a choice. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals can apply an opt-out to the Marketing category when the banner can read the signal. Consent tools support workflows for more than 100 countries and legal jurisdictions. Whether a website is fully compliant depends on its configuration and how it uses personal data.
WordPress connections and domain management
The extension integrates with the WordPress Privacy Policy page and works with WPML and Polylang. When the free WP Consent API companion plugin is active, Cookie Compliance registers as the active Consent Management Platform. Cooperative extensions, including WooCommerce, Google Site Kit, Burst Statistics, WP Statistics, AddToAny, and Pixel Manager for WooCommerce, can then use visitors’ banner choices to control their own behavior.
Multilingual banners are available for websites serving visitors in multiple languages. The connected dashboard lets you manage domains under one account, with a separate banner configuration and styling for each domain.
Connect and configure the plugin
Install and activate the Cookie Compliance plugin in WordPress, then open Settings > Compliance to start the setup wizard. Choose Banner Only to run the banner without an account, or sign in to Cookie Compliance from WordPress and select a plan for Connected mode. Configure the banner, consent choices, purpose categories, script controls, languages, consent modes, and domains in the connected dashboard. Review the banner on your site before publishing.
