WordPress plugin
Username Changer Pro
WordPress normally locks usernames after registration. With Username Changer Pro, an administrator edits a username in the visitor profile and applies the change across the site. Posts, metadata, and other associations remain intact. The add-on also works with Co-Authors Plus and other author plugins to help preserve author relationships when a username changes.
Manage individual and bulk username changes
WordPress normally locks usernames after registration. With Username Changer Pro, an administrator edits a username in the visitor profile and applies the change across the site. Posts, metadata, and other associations remain intact. The add-on also works with Co-Authors Plus and other author plugins to help preserve author relationships when a username changes.
Profile edits can address registration mistakes, organizational naming conventions, security concerns, username conflicts, or account changes during a website migration. Agencies, organizations, membership communities, and content websites with multiple authors can use the same tools to manage account names.
For larger sets, the Bulk Username Updater works with inline editing and CSV import and export for hundreds of usernames. Administrators can use these options to apply naming conventions across an organization, correct migration issues, or prepare a site after visitors have been consolidated.
Review changes and configure site behavior
The Audit Log entries username changes with timestamps and IP addresses. Administrators can export the records as CSV for review or internal administration. Email notifications can be sent when usernames change, and nickname support includes another account-name option. Username sanitization helps prevent security issues.
Settings include username rules, email notifications, and message strings. Communities can also allow members to update their own usernames, depending on the site's configured rules and workflow. The add-on works on multisite installations and with any WordPress theme. Pro license activation is managed per site, with automatic background verification.
Install and access the username tools
Install and activate Username Changer, then open the username tools from the WordPress user area. To update one account, open its profile and change the username. The settings page is under Users → Username Changer and includes areas for settings, help, Pro capabilities, and support. Pro administrators can use the bulk updater and audit tools when managing larger sets of accounts.
