Super RSS Reader Pro: Flexible RSS Feed Displays

Super RSS Reader Pro is the paid edition of Super RSS Reader. It includes ways to place and arrange RSS and Atom feeds across a WordPress site, using a widget or the [srr_feed] shortcode.

Place feeds and set up sources

Add the Super RSS Reader widget where you want a feed to appear, or use the shortcode to place it elsewhere on the site. In the widget options, enter multiple feed URLs separated by commas or on new lines. The widget shows those feeds in tabs. Feed merging combines multiple RSS feeds into one show.

Sources can include your own or related websites, forums, event listings, job listings, deals, Craigslist, Google News RSS, and other RSS sources.

Arrange and refine feed entries

• Grid display: Arrange items in rows and columns.
• Pagination: Divide items across pages with a pagination bar.
• Keyword filtering: Show or hide items based on selected keywords.
• Custom templates: Change the order of feed content and add HTML to the entry structure.
• Thumbnail fetching: Forcefully fetch a thumbnail from the feed URL.

Feed items can include titles, dates, authors, descriptions, and thumbnails. The wider plugin works with thumbnail positions on the left, right, or cover, along with absolute or relative date formats. You can trim titles and descriptions, and order items by date or randomly.

Choose a presentation style

Use a grid to arrange items in columns, or pagination to spread a larger set of items across pages. The Pro edition adds four color themes. The widget can also be customized with external CSS. Its vertical ticker effect can be enabled or disabled, and its speed can be customized.

Understand feed refresh timing

WordPress caches RSS feeds for 12 hours by default. The wp_feed_cache_transient_lifetime filter can change that duration. Lower refresh values may increase server load.
