Set the starting point with order history in mind
Choose a starting number higher than the most current order number. Existing orders count toward the numbering logic, so review your order history first. Test orders count too. If they should not affect a sequence intended to begin at a particular number, move them to the trash and permanently delete them. Trashed orders still count in case they are restored.
Give numbers a recognizable format
A prefix appears before the sequential number, and a suffix appears after it. Use either or both; for example, a store could format numbers as WT101UK and WT102UK. These markers can help identify order references in store communications and internal processes.
Use the WooCommerce order number in integrations
Connected extensions and custom development should shop or show the WooCommerce order number. An extension can filter that number; the underlying order ID remains the post ID.
Check the setup
The site must use WooCommerce 3.9.4 or newer. Activate the plugin and set the starting number, prefix, and suffix to match the store's numbering requirements. After saving, place or review an order and confirm that its displayed number follows the intended sequence and format.
