Sequential Order Number for WooCommerce Premium: Formats and Resets

WooCommerce uses WordPress’s shared ID system for posts, pages, media, and orders. An ID may already be in use when an order is created, so order numbers can skip. Sequential Order Number for WooCommerce Premium offers a custom sequence and format for new orders, and can organize existing order numbers too.

Configure custom WooCommerce order numbers

WooCommerce uses WordPress’s shared ID system for posts, pages, media, and orders. An ID may already be in use when an order is created, so order numbers can skip. Sequential Order Number for WooCommerce Premium offers a custom sequence and format for new orders, and can organize existing order numbers too.

Choose a starting point and format

When a store has no existing orders, numbering can begin at 1 or at a starting value you select. For a store with existing orders, the sequence can continue from the latest order number. You can also choose to keep current numbers; decide how to handle existing orders before applying the configured sequence.

Set the starting number, prefix, number length, and increment, then choose an order number template. Premium includes more templates, custom suffixes, and the option to include the order date as a suffix. Templates can combine the number with a prefix, date, or other supported components. Preview the configured number before saving.

Set reset and free-order rules

Order numbers can reset automatically each day, month, or year. You can also make a separate custom sequence for free orders, apart from the main sequence for paid orders.

Find orders and check integrations

Admin order search supports custom order numbers, and order tracking can help you find order details. Subscription orders and WooCommerce custom order numbers are supported. The Premium version is listed as compatible with HPOS and related shipment tracking, subscription, payment, invoicing, packing slip, import and export, point-of-sale, refund, and language utilities. For integrations that retrieve order data, use the order number instead of the underlying order ID where applicable.

Install and configure

Install and activate the add-on in WordPress, then open its options. Choose a starting number and template, configure the format and sequence rules you need, and review the preview before saving. If the store already has orders, choose whether to retain their current numbers or apply the configured sequence before completing setup.
