PPWP Pro integrates with Elementor and Beaver Builder through built-in modules, and works with WPBakery Page Builder and Divi Builder. The modules let you set passwords, whitelisted roles, and password form settings. Elementor templates, Beaver Builder rows and columns, and page templates can also be protected.
Passwords and access rules
- Create unlimited passwords for pages and posts, including various passwords for user roles or one password shared across multiple roles.
- Set multiple passwords for a protected category, use one password across several pages, or make wildcard passwords and Quick Access Links.
- Use master passwords to unlock content that already has password protection. They do not protect all posts automatically, and the original passwords continue to work.
- Automatically protect sub pages with one password, and create global passwords for Partial Content Protection shortcodes.
- With the Smart Restriction extension, set password expiration and limit use by WordPress user or IP address.
Master passwords can be activated, deactivated, or deleted, and their use can be restricted by usage, time, or user role.
Forms and visitor access
Ajax unlocking can display protected content without a page refresh. Adjust cookie expiration or use session cookies, which are removed when visitors close their browser. Passwords are stored in post meta, and the plugin sets a cookie to allow access to protected pages or posts.
Use the WordPress Customizer to change password form headings, descriptions, error messages, placeholders, button text, and styling. Google reCAPTCHA v2 or v3 can help prevent password abuse by bots. Other options include redirects after a sitewide password is entered and passwordless access through form integrations. Depending on the selected extensions, visitors can unlock content after submitting a form or use Contact Form 7 in place of a password form.
Password management and extensions
Track password usage, including login time and IP address, with the Statistics extension. Import or export passwords, or require a password together with a username or email using Password Suite. Group Password Protection can unlock content at once. WPML, Polylang, and Loco Translate support multilingual password forms.
The Forms Integration, Passwordless Authentication, WooCommerce Integration, and Smart Restriction extensions provide their respective form access, passwordless authentication, WooCommerce, and password usage controls. Pro membership plans include access to extensions and priority support.
Setup and file access
Install PPWP Pro on a WordPress site, select the content or sections to protect, then configure passwords, roles, forms, cookies, and any selected extensions. Files outside the Media Library can be protected. Media files attached to protected pages or posts are not protected by this extension and may remain accessible to anyone with the direct link.
