Login for Google Apps Premium

Login for Google Apps authenticates existing WordPress accounts through Google using OAuth2. Users do not need to enter a separate WordPress password during sign-in. If two-factor authentication is enabled for their Google account, it can be used as well. The add-on works on single-site and multisite WordPress installations and private intranets.

Google sign-in for WordPress

Login for Google Apps authenticates existing WordPress accounts through Google using OAuth2. Users do not need to enter a separate WordPress password during sign-in. If two-factor authentication is enabled for their Google account, it can be used as well. The add-on works on single-site and multisite WordPress installations and private intranets.

Premium account creation and Enterprise controls

Login for Google Apps Premium lets visitors in a Google Workspace domain sign in. When an eligible visitor does not have a WordPress account, Premium can make one automatically, reducing the need to create each account before that user's first login.

Enterprise includes the Premium login and account-creation process. Administrators can set access and WordPress role controls based on Google Group or Organizational Unit membership. Enterprise also logs accounts created and roles changed by the add-on, so administrators can review these updates.

Extensions using shared authentication

Login for Google Apps can provide a shared authentication and permissions platform for extensions, which use the access users have already granted instead of configuring authentication separately.

  • Google Drive Embedder: lets users view for Google Drive documents and embed them in posts or pages.
  • Google Apps Directory: lets logged-in users search an employee directory from a widget on an intranet or client website.
  • Google Profile Avatars: shows users' Google profile photos in place of their site avatars.

Installation and setup

Install and activate Login for Google Apps on the WordPress site or network, then open its options and follow the Google registration instructions. Setup requires administrator access to a Google Workspace domain or a regular Gmail account. Register with Google and obtain the two codes needed by the plugin. Configure the applicable paid edition; for Enterprise, set the required Group or Organizational Unit access and role controls.
