How does Better Find And Replace Pro manage WordPress changes?
Better Find And Replace Pro searches and replaces text, HTML, links, media, and URLs across WordPress content. Database replacements can target selected tables and content areas, including custom tables and serialized data. Use regular expressions, whole-word matching, and filters to narrow a replacement. The utilities also support content loaded through Ajax or jQuery.

Search stored content or apply live masking
Better Find And Replace Pro searches and replaces text, HTML, links, media, and URLs across WordPress content. Database replacements can target selected tables and content areas, including custom tables and serialized data. Use regular expressions, whole-word matching, and filters to narrow a replacement. The utilities also support content loaded through Ajax or jQuery.
Real-time masking applies text, link, or HTML rules before a page loads without changing database content. Rules can include options such as case sensitivity and Unicode matching, or skip selected posts, pages, CSS, JavaScript, and other areas.
Preview database changes first
- Enter the search and replacement values, then select the tables or content areas to target.
- Select Dry Run and generate a report.
- Review the affected rows and data. If the preview is accurate, close the report, uncheck Dry Run, and click Find & Replace.
Database replacements cannot be undone unless the Pro undo capability was installed before the replacement. Review the report before applying a change.
Replace media and update its details
Replace pictures by dragging and dropping a new file, regenerate thumbnails, and update or add alt text, captions, and metadata. AI suggestions can help propose replacement text and media improvements. Safe Media Replacement keeps the original file until the new upload commits and restores it if something goes wrong. Missing Media Detection finds content that points to documents no longer on the server and lets you replace them.
Check links and manage redirects
The internal link scanner checks posts, pages, and public custom post types. Review where each broken link appears, its link text, and how often it is used. Pro maintenance tools add external link, image, and embed checks, scheduled and background scans, grouped failure causes such as timeout or DNS, and bulk fixes with AI replacement suggestions.
- Create and manage 301 redirects with on/off switches and hit counts. Pro also works with 302 and 307 redirects, regex and prefix matching, and automatic redirects when a slug changes.
- Detect redirect chains and loops, including self-redirects. Import and export redirects and review redirect analytics.
- Optionally log 404 hits with referrers and hit counts while filtering bot traffic. Turn a 404 entry into a redirect or find where its URL is still linked.
- Use Replace + Redirect to change a URL across content and create its matching redirect in one previewed operation.
Review website health and AI-assisted changes
The Site Health Dashboard brings together a score, issue count, and activity log. Safe Revision presents an AI suggestion as a full diff for selective approval, merging, publishing, or rollback. AI Content Refresher scans posts for outdated years, software versions, prices, and dead references; approved rewrites are applied as reversible revisions. Maintenance Agent groups related problems, ranks them, prepares a plan for approval, runs the approved batch, and reports what changed.
Clone content and add code snippets
Duplicate or clone posts, pages, and public custom post types as drafts. Bulk cloning supports metadata selection and is described as WooCommerce-aware and page-builder-aware. Code Inserts includes HTML, CSS, or JavaScript snippets to the header, body start, or footer without editing the theme. PHP is not executed. Long scans can execute through Action Scheduler or WP-Cron so administration screens do not wait for them.
