Additional Variation Images Gallery for WooCommerce Premium assigns a gallery to each product variation. When a shopper selects a color, size, style, finish, or another option, the gallery shows images saved for that choice. If no gallery images are assigned, WooCommerce falls back to the product’s default image.

Build image galleries for each option

Premium enables unlimited images per variation. Add alternate views, close-ups, and lifestyle photos to display the details of each option. Choose images from the WordPress Media Library, choose several at once with bulk upload, and drag them into the desired order. The free version allows a couple of extra images per variation beyond the default image.

Set the gallery layout and behavior

Adjust gallery width separately for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Place thumbnails to the left, right, or bottom of the main image. A thumbnail slider keeps a longer image set in a compact area instead of wrapping into extra rows.

Additional controls include automatic image slideshows and speed, slide or fade transitions, thumbnail count and spacing, and navigation arrows for the main image and thumbnail slider. Customers can zoom in on the main image; zoom is enabled by default and can be turned off. The lightbox opens a larger image view, with a setting for the icon’s corner position. You can also show a preloader, hide WooCommerce’s default featured image while a variation gallery is displayed, or disable the gallery for product types that do not need it.

Add video to supported product galleries

Premium works with YouTube, Vimeo, and self-hosted videos alongside images in variation galleries. Video can also be added to Simple, Grouped, and External/Affiliate product galleries. A featured video can be set for Variable, Simple, Grouped, and External/Affiliate products, and its width and height can be adjusted.

Use with WooCommerce themes and gallery data

The add-on is described as compatible with themes including Flatsome, OceanWP, Astra, Divi, Avada, Storefront, BeTheme, and Shopkeeper. A small CSS adjustment may be needed with some themes. Variation gallery images are available through the WooCommerce REST API, and a migration tool can import image data from supported variation gallery add-ons.

Install and configure

Install the Premium product on a WooCommerce website, open a variable product, and add images to each variation in its product options. Select images individually or in bulk, then configure thumbnail placement, gallery width, slider behavior, zoom, lightbox, mobile sizing, and video settings.
