Disqus Comment System Business for WordPress
Disqus Comment System Business combines the Disqus for WordPress add-on with a Business subscription for publishers adding discussion tools to their content. The add-on replaces WordPress’s default comment show, installs without code edits, and can import existing WordPress comments into Disqus during setup. Disqus also offers a free, ad-supported Basic plan. Its ad-optional subscription plans include more advanced capabilities and access to priority support.

Importing and syncing move comments in various directions
During setup, you can import existing WordPress comments into Disqus. Comment Syncing is a separate feature and is off by default. Automatic Installation makes the API application needed to enable syncing; you can also configure syncing with an API application. Once enabled, syncing copies comments made in Disqus to WordPress as a backup if Disqus is deactivated or removed. You can export comments in WordPress-compatible XML for backup or migration as well.
Thread controls give readers ways to join a discussion
Readers can vote, mention others, add spoiler tags, upload photos or videos, and embed rich media. Comment formatting supports HTML tags for bold text, links, italics, and quotations, and suitable discussions can use code syntax highlighting. Threads can nest up to three levels, with controls to collapse individual threads and sort comments by oldest, newest, or best.
Login settings include Facebook, Twitter, and Google social login, plus guest commenting. User profiles display recent comment history and frequented communities. A recommendations widget can point readers to other active discussions on the website.
Notifications and polls bring activity into the discussion
Web and email notifications, along with personalized digests, can bring readers back to active conversations. Disqus Polls can be created and embedded on a site to gather audience responses.
Moderation tools help publishers manage comments
An automatic anti-spam filter powered by Akismet works alongside automated pre-moderation controls that can flag comments based on links or visitor reputation. Moderators can review comments in the discussion, by email, or in the moderation panel. The panel supports searching, filtering, sorting, and managing comments; user blocking and comment flagging are also available.
Async loading and analytics support site management
The interface is designed for mobile devices, and Disqus loads asynchronously with advanced caching. An analytics dashboard measures overall engagement, and monetization options are available for publishers.
Install the plugin and connect a site
Back up your database before installation. In WordPress, open Plugins and pick Add Plugin, search for Disqus Comment System by Disqus, install it, and activate it. From the plugin options, follow the Automatic Installation steps to create a Disqus account, register the site, and connect Disqus; this process also creates the API application required for Comment Syncing. For manual setup, enter the site’s Disqus shortname in Site Configuration after creating an account and registering the site.
Single Sign-On is available as an add-on for Business subscribers. It lets users stored in your own database comment without registering with Disqus, and can be configured for a WordPress site.
