Take a WordPress website from backup to staging
BackupBliss - Backup Migration Staging Pro adds controls for preparing and storing WordPress backups, then using them to restore a site, migrate it to another host, or make a staging copy. Start in the add-on options with Create backup now, review the contents, and select storage or scheduling settings.
By default, a backup contains the site except the add-on’s own backups and the WordPress installation. Select the option in What will be backed up? to include the installation. The free edition has a 4 GB backup limit due to WordPress ZIP limitations. Pro works with unlimited backup sizes and increased stability for larger websites.
Choose contents and backup processing
Pro adds detailed file and database filters and smart exclusion rules. Choose which documents, folders, plugins, or database content to include or exclude; leaving out components that are not needed can reduce the backup size. Pro also includes faster backup creation, encryption, and Tar and GZip compression methods.
- Set backup names and choose whether to shop backups locally, remotely, or in both places.
- Schedule automatic backups daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Set advanced triggers, including automatic backups before theme, plugin, or WordPress core updates.
- Configure fuller email notifications for backup activity.
Connect external storage
Pro can sync backups to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, pCloud, Amazon S3, Wasabi, SFTP, FTP, or BackupBliss Storage. Turn on the chosen storage option in the plugin settings and connect the account. Backup files then sync to that location, with progress available in Manage & Restore Backup(s).
Restore, migrate, or create a staging site
To restore a backup stored on the site, open Manage & Restore Backup(s) and select Restore beside the file. For a direct migration, copy the backup link on the first site, make sure the file is accessible via direct link, then open Super-quick migration on the second site, paste the link, and select Restore now! You can also upload a backup file through the management area and restore it there; uploaded backups must have been created by this plugin.
For staging, choose to create the site on your server or machine, with a custom path if needed, or use TasteWP as an external WordPress sandbox. Select the backup file for the staging environment and start the process from the plugin settings.
