Prepare updates for supported networks

XPoster Pro extends XPoster, which sends WordPress updates to Bluesky, Mastodon, and X. Configure customizable status templates for posts, pages, and custom post types when they are updated or edited. Custom template tags generate update text for each entry.

Set who publishes and when

Authors can add their own social accounts through WordPress profiles. XPoster Pro can send updates to site accounts and author accounts simultaneously. Use delayed status updates or scheduled update management to plan timing. The add-on can also automatically schedule updates from older posts.

Select content and prepare media

Filter updates by categories, tags, or custom taxonomies to control which content is selected. For comments, preview and send status updates. Upload pictures with alt attributes. Integrated Card support and Player Cards with integrated captions are available where supported.

Configure the publishing process

The underlying XPoster workflow works with post tags as hashtags, alternate URLs instead of post permalinks, Google Analytics, XMLRPC remote clients, and external URL shorteners including YOURLS, Bitly, jotURL, and Hum. Rate limiting helps manage X.com API limits.

Set up and check

Install XPoster Pro in WordPress, open its administration settings, connect social accounts, and configure status templates. If authors will publish through their own accounts, review their profile settings too. Then choose timing, taxonomy, media, Card, and older-post options for the workflow. Before relying on scheduled publishing, preview an update and check the intended account and message details.
