Format attachment metadata as media arrives

SEO Media Manager Pro applies formatting rules to WordPress attachment titles on upload and can execute them across existing Media Library items. It changes attachment metadata only; stored media files remain unchanged.

For upload formatting, Free uses the attachment title assigned by WordPress. Pro also lets you choose the original filename or a fixed title as the source. A live preview shows the formatted title and copied metadata under the current options before you save.

Formatting rules

Replace hyphens, underscores, periods, tildes and plus signs with spaces, then choose letter case and capitalization. Selected whole words such as SEO, PDF and UK can stay uppercase. Pro includes controls for more punctuation, numbers and custom phrases, and can split titles at capital letters or number groups.

The formatted title can be copied to alternative text, captions and descriptions. Review the text before using it as alternative text: a title may not describe the image, and decorative pictures can need empty alternative text. Changes to attachment metadata do not update image attributes already saved in post content.

Batch existing attachments

Pro can process the complete Media Library or a custom selection. Limit a job to images, SVG, PDF, documents, audio or video; the selected media filter is saved with the job.

Action Scheduler handles jobs in groups of up to 20 attachments and saves progress between requests. You can leave the settings screen and return to check progress later. Cancellation takes effect after the current group finishes, and does not undo completed changes. WordPress scheduled work must run; if WP-Cron is disabled, a working server-side cron runner is needed.

Batch processing replaces the output fields you choose. There is no fill-missing-only mode, so turn off copying to fields you want to keep or exclude those attachments. Back up the database and test a small selection before processing existing metadata.

Setup and Pro access

Install the plugin, configure the formatting rules and review the preview. Use the Batch processing tab to choose a library scope, media type and source title before starting a job.

Pro includes paid updates and priority email support through Freemius. If the Pro licence is deactivated, the extension stays active and shows the Free interface. Paid settings remain stored, but paid rules and batch processing are unavailable until a valid licence is activated again.

Existing Format Media Titles settings are imported, with a compatibility copy retained for rollback. The developer filters seo_media_manager_defaults, seo_media_manager_title and seo_media_manager_alt remain available.
