Messaging runs on a WordPress page
Front End PM lets visitors access private messaging from a page on your site instead of the Dashboard. Conversations can be threaded or sent individually, and messages can include embedded content such as YouTube, Photobucket, Flickr, and WordPress TV.
Choose recipients and conversation formats
Front End PM PRO lists multiple recipients, group messages, admin-only messaging, and role-to-role messaging. Its email capabilities include email piping, read receipts, templates, and an email queue.
Announcements reach everyone or selected roles
Administrators can publish public announcements for all users or particular roles. They can choose whether to email an announcement and set the address or addresses in its “to” field. Users can choose whether to receive messages, email notifications for new messages, and email notifications for announcements. Notification sound and desktop notification settings are also available.
Admin options control access and volume
Administrators can set the maximum number of messages users may keep, by role, to help limit database size. They can set how many messages appear per page in the message box and how many users appear per page in the front-end directory, and choose whether the directory is shown to all users.
Other controls let administrators block a user from sending private messages, set a delay between messages, view other users’ private messages, and prevent users from starting new messages while still allowing replies to existing ones. Administrators can also conceal user autosuggestions. Users may block other users, and the add-on includes three types of sidebar widget.
Install the messaging page
Upload and activate Front End PM through the WordPress environment. Create a page, add [front-end-pm] in the editor’s HTML tab, publish the page, then choose it as the “Front End PM Page” in the plugin settings.
Updates and translations
Before updating, test on a staging website and make a full backup so you can recover the site if something goes wrong. The plugin is translation-ready; use WordPress translation tools to make a translation if your language is not available. Paid support is also available.
