What can a backup include?
A complete website backup can contain the database, plugins, themes, uploads, and WordPress core documents. The PRO edition includes coverage for wp-admin, wp-includes, and essential root files such as wp-config.php and .htaccess.
When do backups run, and where are they stored?
Set file and database schedules independently. Each schedule can run every hour, every 12 hours, daily, weekly, once every two weeks, or monthly.
One-click configuration is available for Google Drive, Dropbox, and Amazon S3. Backups can be saved to multiple destinations at once, including the WordPress website and cloud storage. By default, local copies go in wp-content/royal-backup-reset/, protected from direct web access by .htaccess rules.
How do migration and restore work?
Clone, copy, or move a site between environments, including from staging to live. Migration has no file-size limit and can use website backups from Google Drive, Dropbox, or Amazon S3. In the backup manager, view, download, restore, or delete saved backups. You can also download components such as the database, add-ons, or themes separately. To restore, open the Restore Site tab, choose a saved website backup, and press Restore.
What happens during routine maintenance or a reset?
A backup reminder appears before you activate or update a theme or plugin, and before you install one. Background processing lets backup and restore activity continue if you refresh or close the browser; real-time progress updates are available during the operation.
The database reset tool returns WordPress to a fresh state without reinstalling it. It deletes content and options while preserving the current user account. Create a backup before resetting, since the reset removes site data.
Start a backup
Install and activate Royal Backup PRO, open the backup area, and start the process. Choose local or cloud destinations and set schedules as needed. Before an update, migration, or reset, make a current backup containing the components required for that task.
