Advanced validation for Contact Form 7
Jquery Validation For Contact Form 7 Pro includes jQuery-based validation to Contact Form 7 fields. It is designed for forms that need more detailed checks than basic field validation, helping identify invalid entries before visitors submit a form.
Validation rules are added by placing classes on Contact Form 7 fields. This provides a direct way to apply checks to the fields that need them, while supporting multiple Contact Form 7 forms on a single page.
Validation methods
The plugin works with common validation methods for required fields, email addresses, URLs, dates, numbers, digits, credit card details, US phone numbers, letters only, and IBANs. Pro also adds a broader set of validation settings for more specific form requirements.
- Custom code validation with a one-time code option
- Custom regular expression validation for defining required patterns
- Username validation checks
- Email code verification
- Alphanumeric values using letters, numbers, and underscores
- Bank or Giro account numbers and BIC codes
- Integer values, including positive or negative non-decimal numbers
- IPv4 and IPv6 address validation
- UK mobile and UK phone number validation
- US state validation
Rules for values and field relationships
Pro includes rules for controlling numeric values, text length, matching fields, file types, and grouped inputs. Minimum and maximum number rules can define acceptable numeric boundaries, while minimum length, maximum length, and range length rules control the amount of text entered.
- Range: require a value within a specified range
- Equal To: require one field to match another
- Extension: require a particular file extension
- Require Group: ensure a required number of fields in a group are completed
These options can be used for forms that collect account details, contact information, identification data, uploads, or related values that must agree with one another.
Feedback and presentation
Invalid fields can be highlighted so visitors can see which entries need attention. The plugin also provides individual error messages for fields. In the Pro version, you can change error messages from the settings and select from four validation error themes.
Interactive validation gives users feedback while working through a form, rather than relying only on Contact Form 7’s core validation response after submission.
Installation and setup
Install and activate the Pro plugin in WordPress, then review the plugin’s settings page for the available instructions. In your Contact Form 7 form, add the appropriate validation class to each field that needs a rule. Configure the required validation methods, messages, and error theme in the available settings.
Test each form after configuration, including pages containing multiple Contact Form 7 forms. The plugin is intended to handle multiple forms on a single page.
