Extend a WordPress media process

Robin Pro is a paid extension for Robin Image Optimizer. It adds AVIF conversion, PageSpeed-focused compression, scheduled background optimization, and support for custom image folders. Robin handles automatic optimization for new uploads and batch processing for existing Media Library pictures. Optimized documents are written back without changing image URLs.

Choose compression and image formats

Robin Image Optimizer works with JPG, PNG, and GIF input, including animated GIFs. GIF files are optimized but not converted to WebP or AVIF. WebP conversion is available without image-count limits in the base add-on; Robin Pro adds AVIF conversion. Compatible browsers can receive modern-format images, while unsupported browsers fall back to the original format.

Choose lossless compression for logos, illustrations, and images where fidelity matters. Lossy compression applies stronger reduction with minimal quality changes. High compression targets greater file-size reduction, while custom compression lets you set a quality level. Robin Pro's PageSpeed mode uses options tuned for performance audits. You can also select whether to remove EXIF data to reduce file size and improve privacy, or preserve it for photography processes.

Process media in batches or in the background

Automatic optimization runs when images are uploaded. Bulk processing handles existing Media Library images in batches. Robin Pro's scheduled background processing works through images gradually without blocking the WordPress administration interface. Custom-folder optimization reaches images outside the Media Library, including theme and plugin assets.

For command-line workflows, Robin Pro includes WP-CLI commands to optimize images, stop processing, and check status. Available scopes include the media library, custom folders, and NextGEN.

Restore or reprocess images

With backups enabled, you can restore original files or re-optimize images with various compression settings. This lets you compare settings while retaining the source image.

Review the optimization settings, choose a compression mode, and decide how EXIF data should be handled. Use automatic processing for new uploads or bulk processing for existing media, then enable the Pro options needed for AVIF, PageSpeed compression, background processing, or custom folders.
