Organize WordPress content without changing URLs

Folders Pro is the Pro edition of Folders, a WordPress add-on for organizing media files, pages, posts, and custom posts. Its folders are virtual: assigning an item does not make a physical folder on the server or change the item's URL. Build folder trees with unlimited subfolders for pictures, videos, audio, files, and site content, grouped by project, topic, category, or date. Customize folder icons and mark important folders to make them easier to find.

Choose folders for content and uploads

Select a folder when adding or moving content, upload files directly to a chosen media library folder, or create a media library folder during an upload. Set a default folder for the media library, pages, posts, and custom posts, with an option to display unassigned items when an area opens. The sticky media library toolbar keeps folder navigation available while you organize files.

Set folder rules and access

Dynamic Folders automatically group media, pages, posts, and custom posts using criteria such as author, date, file size, file type, and WooCommerce products. Lock folders to keep them pinned and prevent them from being dragged or deleted; you can lock or unlock all folders, duplicate a folder, and sort folders by creation date. Keyboard shortcuts support creating, renaming, duplicating, and reordering folders.

When folder visitor restrictions are enabled, users can access only their own folders and media, while admin-type users can view all folders. The restriction can also apply to Dynamic Folders.

Replace files and inspect details

Media replacement can update references in the database so the replacement appears wherever the file is used. Workflows support PDF, SVG, DOCX, XLSX, and other file types identified in the product information. Compare the old and new files, including details such as size and dimensions. You can rename a media file from its WordPress editor title and pick date options, including organizing by the newer date. Hover over media library files to view metadata such as title, size, type, date, and dimensions.

Import folder structures and manage files

Folders Pro works with SVG uploads and can import folder structures from FileBird, Enhanced Media Library, Wicked Folders, Real Media Library, WP Media Folder, HappyFiles, and Mediamatic. You can also export the Folders structure and choose to move files to the trash before deleting them.

Install and activate Folders Pro, then create or import a folder structure. Arrange media, pages, posts, and custom posts in the folder interface, set default folders, configure access restrictions, and choose the upload and replacement options that fit your workflow.
