Dynamic QR Code Pro for Changeable Links and Scan Tracking

Dynamic QR Code Pro puts a redirect URL in the QR code image and stores the destination information on your WordPress site. Change that stored information when a page or link changes, and the same QR image can remain in use. A static QR code stores its information in the code itself, so changing its destination usually requires creating and distributing a new image.

Update destinations while keeping the QR picture

Dynamic QR Code Pro puts a redirect URL in the QR code image and stores the destination information on your WordPress site. Change that stored information when a page or link changes, and the same QR image can remain in use. A static QR code stores its information in the code itself, so changing its destination usually requires creating and distributing a new image.

This setup can point a printed code to the pharmacy page for the current shift, a promotion at its current URL, or a restaurant menu for the day. The add-on generates QR code pictures. You can also use an image made with another tool if it encodes the correct QR URL. The number of dynamic codes is described as unlimited, subject to what your WordPress website can handle.

Create a QR code and prepare its image

  1. In the plugin console, create a QR-Code entry and enter a short description.
  2. Enter a unique key that has not been used for another QR-Code.
  3. Set the redirect URL by choosing a page or article on your WordPress site, or by entering a custom URL.
  4. Save the QR-Code, then use its QR URL to create an image or download the image generated by the plugin.

Place the image on the intended product, promotion, menu, or printed material. Update the stored destination when the linked information changes.

Route scans by date, weekday, or random selection

For date-based routing, enable Disable unique keys in Settings, then create two or more QR-Code items with the same key, various validity date intervals, and different redirect URLs. The destination depends on which matching item is valid on the scan date.

For weekday routing, enable Disable unique keys and create seven QR-Code items with the same key. Give each item a different redirect URL and assign it to one day of the week. To add an exception date, create another item with that same key, set its redirect URL and activation date, and enable its priority checkbox. The priority item then takes precedence on that date.

For random routing, enable Disable unique keys and create at least two items with the same key and different URLs. Scans are directed to a URL chosen from the valid matching items using pseudo-random selection. This selection is not suitable for true lotteries or gambling.

Review scan activity

Scans are logged, and the data can be downloaded for statistical analysis. PRO add-ons provide basic statistics grouped by date, day, device type, country, and more. Enabling the My FastAPP settings under Settings enables User Key values to distinguish activity; the My FastAPP workflow can track scans from individual visitors.

Control access and scan volume

The plugin can provide a webpage accessible only by scanning a QR code and can limit the number of scans. These settings can fit a page or offer intended for people who scan a displayed code, or a campaign with a defined scan allowance.

Open social profiles and videos in apps

PRO functions can direct a QR code to a Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn profile in its corresponding app. A PRO capability can also open a YouTube video directly in the YouTube app.
